Impulse-Based Dynamic Strength Index: Considering Time-Dependent Force Expression

چکیده

The dynamic strength index (DSI) is a useful tool to assess an athlete's capacity effectively use maximum during tasks. Although DSI traditionally calculated based on peak forces, the ability express force over time (i.e., impulse) better predictor of performance. purpose this study was investigate association between (fDSI) and impulse (iDSI). Nineteen female collegiate lacrosse players performed countermovement jumps (CMJs) isometric midthigh pulls (IMTPs). Peak were extracted from CMJ IMTP force-time data. Countermovement jump by integrating concentric movement time, whereas CMJ-matched time. Ratios used calculate fDSI iDSI, respectively. A moderate positive correlation existed iDSI ([rho] = 0.644 [0.283-0.840], p 0.003). Based thresholds established in literature, 2 indices suggest conflicting training recommendations for 37% athletes. Because performance, may represent more valid method assessing Practitioners researchers want consider augmenting current research practices with impulse-based DSI.

Impulse-based dynamic simulation in linear time

This paper describes an impulse-based dynamic simulation method for articulated bodies which has a linear time complexity. Existing linear-time methods are either based on a reduced-coordinate formulation or on Lagrange multipliers. The impulse-based simulation has advantages over these well-known methods. Unlike reduced-coordinate methods, it handles nonholonomic constraints like velocity-depe...

Influence of Dynamic Strength Index on Countermovement Jump Force-, Power-, Velocity-, and Displacement-Time Curves

The dynamic strength index (DSI), often calculated as the ratio of countermovement jump (CMJ) propulsion peak force to isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) peak force, is said to inform whether ballistic or maximal strength training is warranted for a given athlete. CMJ propulsion peak force is highly influenced by jump strategy, however, which is not highlighted by the DSI alone. This study aimed t...

Optimized Impulse-Based Dynamic Simulation

The impulse-based dynamic simulation is a recent method to compute physically based simulations. It supports the simulation of rigid-bodies and particles connected by all kinds of implicit constraints. In recent years the impulse-based dynamic simulation has been more and more used to simulate deformable bodies as well. These simulations create new requirements for the runtime of the method bec...

Dynamic calibration of force balances for impulse hypersonic facilities

This paper analyzes different techniques for the calibration of force balances for use in shortduration impulse hypersonic facilities such as shock tunnels. The background to how deconvolution can be used to infer aerodynamic forces on models in impulse hypersonic wind tunnels is presented along with the theory behind the different calibration techniques. Four calibration techniques are applied...
